Meet the Coach - David Lopez
Local resident and Seraph alumni David Lopez competed in Track and Football at St. Bonaventure. After receiving a Division 2 Football Scholarship to Western New Mexico University, Coach Lopez decided instead to compete in Track & Field at Ventura College under his mentor Coach Tony Veney. While at Ventura College, he received numerous awards and still holds one of the five fastest 100m times in school history with a PR of 10.5.
He received a scholarship to run track at Division 1 Sacramento State University under Coach McDaniel and subsequently competed at the Big Sky Indoor Championships. After being awarded the 2020 Male Newcomer of the Year at Sacramento State, his season was cut short due to the Covid pandemic.
After receiving his B.A. in Communications with a Minor in Business Administration, Coach Lopez returned as an assistant Track Coach specializing in sprints before taking over as Head Coach of the program this year.
